Ginetta Reveal Their New LMP1 Contender

At the Autosport International Show, Ginetta have revealed their new LMP1 car alongside customers TRS Racing Manor. The car will form part of the new generation of LMP1 chassis available to privateers in the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season.

After several months of buildup, the covers were finally lifted on Ginetta’s LMP1 challenger this morning at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. In attendance were Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta’s technical director Ewan Baldry, Manor Sporting Director, Graeme Lowdon, and from TRS, chairman Zhang Yi and vice president Li Qiao.

The G60-LT-P1 is the latest and most powerful addition to the Ginetta lineup, and is set to be entered into the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season by customer team TRS Racing Manor. The chassis on the Ginetta stand at the show appears in TRS Manor’s striking blue and white livery, and will be on display all weekend.

“I’m delighted to finally be able to unveil our latest machine to the motorsport industry, and what better time than at the start of our 60th year of manufacturing.“ said Tomlinson, in the Ginetta press release. “Ginetta has a long history of international success with the G55 GT4, LMP3 and G57. The LMP1 will be a strong contender in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and at Le Mans. We have a great team of Design Engineers in Leeds, have worked with some excellent partners on the project, and can’t wait to show you what the LMP1 is made of out on track.”

“The car was designed with 2 main things in mind, the aero package and weight distribution.” commented Ewan Baldry. “We put the car on the scales last week and it weighs just 750kg.”

Ginetta are doing a 10 car production run on the G60, including one which will be Ginetta’s development car. The development chassis houses a Mecachrome engine, but there is no word yet on what engine TRS Racing Manor will opt for. Graeme Lowdon also confirmed that the team expects to announce their drivers soon, and while the team has only one car currently confirmed, a second is under consideration.

The G60-LT-P1 will be out testing with the rest of the LMP1 field during the FIA WEC tests at Le Castellet in April and will make its race debut at the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in May.
